Simple Holiday Decor - 2016
Between the lights, the weather, holiday movies and the feeling that Christmas brings me, I very much look forward to this time of year! There is just something about it that makes me happy to be alive! For my holiday decor, I decided to stay traditional this year with the red, green and just a hint of gold....and I must say, I LOVE it! It was super simple and easy!
This is our 3rd year with a real tree and I don't think I will ever go back! Growing up, we always had the same fake tree, which I loved by the way because it was a tradition at my mom's house, but now that I have my own house, I am going real! I enjoy the smell and the freshness of it, plus I use the trimmings as decoration (just add some lights and/or candles), it's a win-win! (Make sure the trimming does not catch the candle flame AND remember to unplug the lights and spray the trimming often with a water bottle so it doesn't catch on fire as well!)
Trimming - extra from my tree and I added a strand of white lights.
Flowers - Michaels $14.99 (I purchased 5 bunches) *TIP: Keep your Bath and Body Works candle jars after you burn them! (Freeze them, pop out the extra wax & wash the jar.) I use them ALL OVER my house!)
Merry Christmas Plate - Michaels $19.99 (I use this for my keys & phone when I get home)
Trimming - extra from my tree and I added a strand of white lights
Flowers - Michaels $14.99 (same as entryway)
Mantle Bulb Stands - $16.99 each
Trimming - extra from my tree and I added 3 pillar candles
Mirrored Tray - HomeGoods $29.99
Tree - Lowes' $49.99
Ornaments - Michaels $19.99 (per container - I used 2)
Star - Walmart or Target (I can't remember -- I have had this star for 7+ years)
Tree Skirt - HomeGoods $39.99
Candy Jars - HomeGoods $5.99-$9.99 (they have larger sizes also)
I just changed the candy to marshmallows and candy canes (for hot cocoa). It's cheap, easy and festive!
